Hypoestes Phyllostachya White Splash, or Splash Select White Polka Dot Plant, a flowering plant species of the Acanthaceae family, is a popular “gift plant” because it has beautiful pointed leaves that remain white with distinctive dark green dots and pink/purple flowers at the nodes.
Hypoestes White is a fast grower and can reach approximately 12” tall. This is an evergreen shrub.
Its lavender-colored flowers rise above the nodes, usually in the summer or early fall.

If grown outdoors, this plant prefers a partially shady spot. Bright, indirect light is ideal indoors, a perfect spot would be near an east- or south-facing window.
This plant needs moderate watering about once every 5-7 days. Overwatering can cause root rot. Only water when the top o.5 inch of soil has dried out. Slightly reduce watering in the winter.
Polka dot plants prefer organically rich soil with good drainage. An all-purpose organic potting mix is typically suitable for these plants. Mix in some pumice or perlite to improve soil drainage.
This plant thrives in temperatures of 65°F-80°F, which make it suitable for most home and office settings.
This plant should be fertilized once during the growing season (spring/summer) with diluted houseplant fertilizer.
